Shopping areas of Newport

Newport offers a wide variety of retail options to enhance your stay. From one-of-a kind local artisans to the nationwide retail names that you know and love, Newport has it all.

Thames Street - Shops and restaurants line Thames Street from Washington Square to Wellington Ave. Larger named retailers such as Gap and J Crew tend to be clustered around the Brick Market end or Northern end of Thames while the Southern end offers more local retailers. All the Wharfs and their unique shopping areas can be accessed off of Thames.

Brick Market - At the northern end of Thames beginning at Washington Square, the Brick Market offers some well known and more obscure shopping options. Visit the Only in Rhode Island store for local crafts and gifts and quench your thirst with the best White Sangrias in Newport at the Brick Alley Pub. Brick Market is home to J Crew, Chicos, Gap, Baby Gap, and Yankee Candle and many others.

Bellevue Avenue - High end clothing, art galleries, furniture and design stores, and more dot both sides of elegant Bellevue Ave. Some better known options such as Talbots, CVS, and Stop and Shop also call Bellevue home.

Broadway - The shops and restaurants along Broadway Ave are an eclectic mix of trendy wine bars, high end cosmetics shops, nail salons and take out pizza shops. This is the up and coming part of Newport that is well frequented by locals. It is "Main Street" for those who live and work in Newport.

Please consider a visit to the Onne van der Wal Photography Gallery at One Bannister's Wharf (pictured above). This local photographer captures the heart of Newport with his nautical, yacht, and sailing themes. You can even see some of Onne van der Wal's work in the Mill Street Inn lobby.
