Thee Newport Bermuda Race is a 635 nautical-mile ocean race first sailed in 1906. Held biennially in even-numbered years. The race usually lasting three to six days. It crosses a stretch of the Atlantic Ocean known for challenging weather, especially in the Gulf Stream, where there are strong currents. The start is off Castle Hill Light June 15
Celebrating its 17th year as America’s premier summer flower show, the 2012 Newport Flower Show will welcome visitors with the grace and sophistication that has raised entertaining to an art form in the City-by-the-Sea. "Entertaining—Newport Style" will be held on the historic grounds of Rosecliff, which hosted some of the most fabulous parties of the Gilded Age in the early 20th century and remains a setting for elegant receptions and entertainment to this day. Newport is the final stop in the inaugural America’s Cup World Series (AC World Series), which will feature both fleet and match racing.The regatta will give the public an opportunity to watch the world’s top sailors compete in the state-of-the-art AC45 wing-sailed catamarans, which will be the first time the high-tech boats will be raced on the east coast of the U.S. June 23-July 1
